Employment Opportunities

Arcane Horizon is always looking for eager, qualified and compassionate employees. As an agency, we provide initial orientation training, as well as a minimum of 40 hours of in home training before being placed on a schedule. Additional training courses and education are offered on an ongoing basis as we believe that learning never stops! We also believe in the benefits of cross training staff at multiple homes to facilitate an ever growing skill set, exposure to a wide variety of situational and individualized support models along with a broader knowledge base of disabilities

Full time status:
  • Guaranteed 30 hours per week
  • Eligible for Benefits after 6 months
  • Paid Holidays after 1 year of service
Part time status:
  • Typically working between 15 and 30 hours per week
  • Not eligible for benefits
  • Holiday entitlement is paid out on each pay, eligibility for vacation time off without pay begins after one year of service
Casual status:
  • Must work a minimum of one shift per month
The following is an outline of the basic requirements for employment with Arcane Horizon Inc. Further detail and information will be provided to you during the interviewing & training process.

  1. Minimum Age 18 Years
  2. Criminal Record Check (CRC) – Provide a current CRC, conducted within the last three (3) months by the City of Winnipeg Police, RCMP or such other Canadian police department that is connected to an approved national registry. Documentation detailing any charges that may appear is required and court transcripts concerning the disposition of any and all charges may be required. Any and all costs involved are the responsibility of the prospective employee. No shifts or hours with the agency will be provided prior to receipt of an accepted CRC.
  3. Driver’s Abstract – Provide a current driver’s abstract if the position you are hired for requires that you drive a vehicle while supporting individuals and/or operating agency vehicles.
  4. Abuse Registry Checks – Provide a current Child Abuse Registry Check and an Adult Abuse Registry Check, conducted within the last three (3) months.  Both checks are available through the Child Abuse Registry Unit at 777 Portage Avenue in Winnipeg.Click here to learn more
  5. Emergency First Aid/CPR
  6. Nonviolent Crisis Intervention
  7. Language Writing & Comprehension Skills – Must meet the requirements of the Provinces Communication Skill Policy for those providing care to people in Residential Care Facilities.  The general guidelines set out in this policy are: 
  • Completed Canadian Grade 10 in English or French or Grade 10 GED in English or French, 
  • Foundations in Disability from Red River College
  • Certificate or Diploma programs completed in English or French.
  • A series of courses successfully completed by written evaluation in English or French by the Provincial Licensing Authority
  • Education completed outside of Canada, at the discretion of the Provincial Licensing Authority
